The Roosevelt New Orleans
By: Megan Rau

As the final snowflakes melt and spring flowers begin to bloom, a scenic getaway may be filling your mind. If you dream of beautiful, warm weather with a touch of Southern hospitality, look no further than The Roosevelt. Originally known as The Grunewald in 1893, and later named The Fairmont before eventually becoming The Roosevelt, this hotel is known as a historic landmark among Louisiana’s finest. Some of history’s most talented musicians performed here, including Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, and Bob Hope, among many others.

Music enthusiast or not, The Roosevelt will make you feel right at home during your stay in Louisiana. Located in the business district off Canal Street and just one block from the French Quarter, this hotel is near the must-see attractions for all visitors. During your stay, take a stroll to the top floor of The Roosevelt, where the King himself, Elvis Presley, once stayed while working on a film. Live like a rock star in one of the 504 luxurious rooms, or relax like royalty in the Guerlain Spa. Enjoy a cocktail in the legendary Sazerac Bar, and let yourself feel a little blue, Louisiana-style, at The Blue Room, where Mr. Frank Sinatra helped earn his music-star status.

With Dixieland sounds still reminiscent in the air, The Roosevelt holds a special place in the hearts of jazz lovers everywhere. Let those winter blues melt away, and lose yourself in the beauty of a city where the true blues continue to reign. - Megan Rau
